Welcome of Mountain bicycles
Feb 10th
This is one person essay on why she enjoys, cycling and more in particular mountain cycling.
When I got my first mountain bike around four years ago, it was not to ride down mountains at all.I simply liked the idea of fat tyres and to be able to go up and down the restrictions or other road impedimenta with impunity. So, of course, I didn’t get a top of the line bike but, cost about $ 300-and that included a padded gel seat position and a kick biking computer.
And honestly I love to bike. I am all for a new …
I have lived in a bicycle-friendly city for most of my life-more than 20 years. This is a great city-over 100 000 people, but it is designed with lots of bike tracks around and through the many parks and lakes. And even the streets are mostly broad shoulders with cyclists can ride. This is because this is a large town in the Midwest, where there was plenty of room to build and spread out, unlike the New England States where space was a premium.
Anyway, I bike everywhere I can-to the library to my local grocery store (if I only buy a few things.I use a detachable fork basket), to work and for General pleasure horse riding-spring, summer and fall anyway,
Each spring, it takes me a couple of weeks of serious Cycling to get back in shape (I am a warm weather woman in the huddle indoors in the winter time, storing up fat, and then as soon as spring hits I is out of the bike until next winter).
The first year I had the bike, I used it exclusively for road cycling and off trail riding. As I said, I love the bike-it is much more comfortable than a road bike with its typical small Saddles and drop handlebars. and I wanted the freedom it gave me-if I saw something in a grassy field, a place I could turn off the trail or road without hesitation and go investigate without hesitation-something you cannot do with these narrow belts road bikes.
I was able to go as quickly as a road bike?Well … not really but then, I never in a hurry to get everywhere.
When the second spring came, I decided it was time to actually tried a little mountain cycling. I did not find any actual mountains-but there were plenty of hills around the town, had “mountain Cycling” track on them I did my few weeks of “getting in shape” and then set to the nearest “official” audit trail.
And let me tell you-mountain biking is a gas. I do not enjoy the climbing part of it-I’m not a masochist, but once you get to the top and head down, the wind against your face and the sheer concentration necessary to negotiate all the barriers are exciting.
So if you live anywhere near a mountain biking trail, go check it out, you will be glad you did.
